CONGRATULATIONS TO FISHERWICK

After reading the reported result of the deciding match on Ballynafeigh`s website I must post a congratulations message to Fisherwick on winning the first division.
At the moment I have no further information as to what transpired on the night.

Congratulations to Lagan on winning the second division and RVH (ravens) on winning the third division.
I do hope all competitors enjoyed and benefitted from competing in the past league season.

CORK CONGRESS TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND

A number of players are off to  Cork this weekend to compete in the Cork Congress.
Here is the CORK CHESS CLUB site with all the details.

BOMBARDIER, MALONE RESULT CLARIFICATION

After receiving instructions from Captain Kelly I have been ordered to clarify the league standing situation.

It has been confirmed the tie break rule is only used to decide first and second place.  This means Bombardier and Malone are officially joint third in the first division, or joint last in the first division, whichever you prefer!

Here is Captain Kelly`s official statement to both teams, "Congratulations are due to both clubs for reaching Division One this season and giving a good account of themselves."

This is the official statement of Captain Kelly to the Malone team; "Please convey in your blog my appreciation as Captain of Malone of the whole team for their skill, dedication and loyalty.
Cheers. Captain Martin Kelly"

I hope this makes the situation clear to everyone.

THE POWER PLAY SHOW

Chessbase are highlighting Danny King`s "Power play shows."

These shows are well worth watching, I have listened to quite a few since starting my new subscription.  They are available to watch anytime, you do not have to catch the live broadcast.

The position below is a trailer for tonight`s show. You have to find the best way for white to continue. Black has just played Bb7.

THE TANTRUM ATTACK

A controversy has occurred at one of this week`s games which could have far reaching consequences.

In most countries this particular opening is called the f4 Sicilian or the Grand Prix Attack. Here in N.Ireland it is now known as the Tantrum Attack.

If the white aggression breaks down he simply finds the novelty of throwing a tantrum and claiming spectators have interfered with play, like wot Kenneth Wolsteholme did in the famous 1966 World Cup final!

Here are most of the moves of the controversial game. The remaining moves were not being recorded as the players were both in the last five minutes. lol lol lol lol

TWO KNIGHTS DEFENCE

A couple of years ago I watched Alexandra Kosteniuk give a lecture on this game. She may have actually played the game earlier in the day as a matter of fact.

At one stage in the lecture she said, "Why did I play this opening? I will never ever play this again!"

It must have been a very nerve wrecking experience! lol Rybka analysis gives it a training question at move 28 for white?

Here is the game below.

MY DRESS CODE INITIATIVE

After reading the dress code rules for females I have decided to implement my own set of "Dress code rules." From now on I will only play against opponents who exhibit good taste, dress sense and who are wearing the following designer labels.

Only the following designer labels are acceptable.
Schott; For a wide variety of quality clothing.
Gate One; Another wide variety.
Alpha Industries; Bit expensive but anyone who wins any prize money should be able to afford something from here.

Daniel Hechter; Suits and other quality clothing.
Feraud; Suits and other quality clothing.
Hugo Boss; Same as above.

Ben Sherman; Wide variety of stuff.
Calvin Klein; Wide variety of stuff.

Footwear and sportswear.
Brogue; World class shoes.
New Balance; The only acceptable runining, cross training, fashion shoe.
Umbro; The only acceptable sports wear. They supply Rangers and Linfield. Rangers gear is being sold very cheaply at the minute! lol lol

Please pay a vist to TK MAX before you play me! lol lol lol lol

But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

LAST NIGHT`S GAME

Here is last night`s game against David. I could not record all the moves as I was in my last five minutes.

Just last week I  had been looking at Sam Collins DVD  "An e4 Repitoire for White." Particularly the section on the Italian game.

That is why I played this line.
