I WAS CONNED

This is my game against my Fisherwick team mate Ian Woodfield. It was played on Wednesday night.
My opponent did not play his usual KIA commencing 1.Nf3.
I expected an open Sicilian with 3.d4
On move 23 I made a mistake which my opponent seized upon.

During the whole game I felt very uneasy as I had been lured into a setup I was unfamilar with.  As a result I used up a lot of time. The last few moves are not recorded as I was in the last 5 minutes.

A nice win for Ian Woodfield, well played Ian.
Now I will have to ask Andrew Martin to bring out a DVD showing the best way to combat the King`s Indian Attack via an unexpected move order.

The moral of the story is; Beware of Ian Woodfield!

ULSTER CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2013

The Ulster Chess Championships will be stage in just a few weeks time at the Europa Hotel. 24th, 25th, 26th August.

No doubt George Clooney and Jessica Alba are hard at work preparing for the event.
