AN UNEXPECTED TURN OF EVENTS

BSCC is presently second place in the first division. This is most unexpected development for a new Chess club which is less than a year old.
The latest result was a win against Bombardier in last night`s game.  Dennis has provided the result, details and pictures.

BSCC 3.5 Shorts 1.5

BSCC make 'short' work of their opponents and have now won their first 3 matches in the second half of their campaign in Division 1 Can they maintain this form to mount a serious challenge to the runaway leaders Fisherwick??

Time will tell with 2 head to head matches between them to come, although it would seem that Fisherwick have such a huge points lead that it may be impossible to haul them in.

LAGAN v BSCC

The result of tonight`s match was a surprising win for BSCC.
LAGAN 1.5   BSCC  3.5  Dennis provides the details and comments.

BSCC sink Lagan CC at Belfast Boat Club ..... Lagan 1.5 BSCC 3.5

Bd1 J.Nicholson 0.5 Ray Devenney 0.5

Bd2 G. Heathwood 0 G McCormick 1

Bd3 C.Kelly 0.5 J.Bryars 0.5

Bd4 C.Armstrong 0 D.Ruben 1

Bd5 W.Storey 0.5 B.Jaffa 0.5

Interesting stats, there were 4 Doctors,1 dentist and 1 church minister among both teams...the rule re; all mobile phones must be switched off during play was breached wen Dr. Armstrong`s phone rang,,normally that game would be forfeited,,but Dr.C.Kelly, Lagans captain, requested BSCC to waive that rule as Dr.Armstrong was on call..no problem,,,waived.

LATEST RESULT

The latest BSCC result was;
 BSCC 3   B/NAFEGH INTERNATIONAL 2

Dennis provides the details and pictures.

Board 1, Rev. Ray Devenney 0 D.Houston 1
Board 2, Graham McCormick 0.5 D.Cunningham 0.5
Board 3, John Bryars 1 I.Bujak 0
Board 4, Neil Green 0.5 I.Kilpatrick 0.5
Board 5, Bernard Jaffa 1 C.Logan 0.

A good start to the second half of the campaign in Div 1 for BSCC,altho both sides were not at full strength. BSCC led 3-1 with just Ray's game to finish,it was a Rook and pawn endgame which looked equal, unfortunately Ray ran out of time, altho David Houston reckoned he had a slight edge, who are we to argue with the highest rated player in Ulster?? lol
